Bioactive: It is an antibiotic belonging to the tetracycline class. It can strongly inhibit both Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria. It is a protein synthesis inhibitor that prevents aminoacil-tRNA from binding to a complex ribosomal RNA. Also has an activity against HSV-1.
