Application
Sulfadiazine sodium is mainly used in the treatment of patients with meningitis caused by sensitive Neisseria meningitidis. It can also be used to treat:
1.Acute bronchitis and mild pneumonia caused by haemophilus influenzae, Streptococcus pneumoniae and other streptococci.
2. Serocatosis.
3. Adjuncts to the treatment of chloroquine-resistant falciparum malaria.
4. Combination drugs with pyrimethamine for toxoplasmosis caused by Toxoplasma gondii in mice.
Pharmacological action and the mechanism of action
Sulfadiazine sodium is a medium acting sulfonamide antibacterial drug, which has antibacterial effect on many G + and G-bacteria. In addition, in vitro activity against Chlamydia trachomatis, N. stellca, Plasmodium and T. gondii.
